Sustainability Policy

Without compromising on high end design, Denim Star® is a quiet luxury with the importance of sustainability.

First and foremost we are committed to running an ethical and responsible business with people, animal welfare and low-environmental impact throughout the brands core structure and product design.

We want to be transparent, and we expect this from our suppliers. Denim Star® structure and sustainability claims have been officially verified with Ethy.

Denim Star® is Ethy verified.

Ethy use a verification system based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and requiring evidence to prove commitment and action before awarding a trust mark they strive to eradicate greenwashing helping consumers to make informed choices.

Denim Star® has proudly been awarded by Ethy with 8 trust marks located at the footer of our home page. Each ecolabel displayed is as a clear sign that the specified criteria relating to sustainability have been met. All of equal importance but as Founder Emma Lucy Brown I am most proud of our verification for Organic range, 100% Vegan and Fighting Plastic Waste.

Sock Lifecycle

More than ever it is important to consider the socks lifecycle.

All decisions made from the drawing board are evaluated in terms of ethics and duty to sustainability. For each pair of our socks, 80% of the socks composition is made from GOTS certified organic cotton: as much as it would be wonderful for them to be 100% Cotton it is imperative to have longevity. By adding nylon is more of a sustainable option to have longer lasting socks with a reinforced toe and heel with elastane to help hold the socks up.

In the next two years Denim Star® will be looking into solutions for the end of the socks life, meaning passed repair.

Always a hot topic in the Denim Star® household. With the Founder Emma Lucy Brown being an Alumni of London's Central Saint Martins and having worked in the Fashion Design and Development Industry for over 26 years. It was imperative for Emma to Juxtapose luxurious design that is affordable, ethical and responsible. The mere existence of a brand holds implications for both people and the planet. With this at the forefront of Emma's mind bared a huge importance to design something that is timeless, essential and practical. Timeless classic comfortable design to be go to sartorial essentials and people need socks.

A desire to Collaborate

Denim Star® is a brand with a mission to teach that you can truly be niche, this demonstrates how collections can be designed with one set of components: which ultimately lowers manufacturing waste. And teaching sustained buying habits purchasing from niche brands. The Founder Emma Lucy Brown believe's 'gone are the days' of creating brands that produce everything including the kitchen sink!

No business or brand can be 100% Sustainable, but with a desire to collaborate with other like-minded small businesses Denim Star® can make even more sustainable choices in manufacturing.
